Project Manager - Consultant

Duration: 12+ Months
This contractor will be one member of a team that is comprised of proven experts in some or all of the fields of networking, virtual environments, information security, encryption, network automation, centralized IT management, Microsoft server, and SQL environments.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as project manager for specific client projects and activities; works with the client Management on priorities and timeframes of projects; plans work and schedule for projects; coordinates interaction between interrelated project teams; reviews and assesses progress of the client projects and activities and takes corrective action where necessary
Ensures that the client projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to customer requirements
Is required to follow the client methodology, the Project Management Approach For The Systems Development Lifecycle
Assists Agency management and project stakeholders in information technology planning related to the client program
Clarifies expectations and defines requirements. Directs the work activities and priorities of team leaders, architects, consultants, analysts, and technicians engaged in design, procurement, testing, and implementation of the client projects and activities. Responsible for providing feedback to the client management on staff selection, assignment, training, development, and performance related to the client .
Serves as primary contact person for the client project stakeholders and contractors to resolve day-to-day issues, process change requests, and manage schedules for the client projects and activities. Escalates to the client management and project sponsors any issues, change requests, and schedule impacts.
Coordinates with agency management and resources responsible for ongoing maintenance and support of the client components post-implementation as needed for knowledge transfer and for coordination with new client implementation.
Estimates, tracks and reports on costs, including potential hard dollar, and internal client personnel and contractor hours and resulting earned value. Reports regularly to Management and Sponsor as to project status, including project accomplishments, issues, risks, and financials. Serves as project advisor to the client Management, Project Sponsors, and Steering Committee.
Documents expected benefits, such as reduction in cycle time, personnel savings, and any hard dollar savings for any enhancement requests other than ones mandated by legislation.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Leadership skills
Working knowledge of the PMI project management lifecycle
Working knowledge of the change management lifecycle
At least 3 years' experience in network protocols, security, operating systems, and/or infrastructure
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the needs of technical peers, technical and user management, business users, vendors, and staff members
Excellent verbal and written communications to include grammar, composition, punctuation, writing, editing and proofreading skills
Experience with meeting facilitation
Experience in developing and maintaining documentation for policies, procedures, and best practices
Experience with requirements / environments for PCI, PUB1075, and/or NIST.
A Bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and four (4) years of experience in information technology systems or related area; or an Associate's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and six (6) years of experience in information technology systems or related area; or a High School diploma and eight (8) years of experience in information technology systems or related area
PMP certification verifiable via
Current industry certifications for Microsoft products and/or information security practices
Knowledge of Microsoft products- Windows Server 2016, SharePoint 2016, Project 2016, SCCM 2012, Windows 2016, Office 2016
BA, QA certifications & experience
Internet standards, including TCP/IP, and DNS, DHCP
Server operating systems installation and configuration
Internet security
Virtual Private Networking (VPN),
TCP/IP, Local Area Networks (LAN)
Wide Area Networks (WAN)
Easily adapts to changing priorities
Knowledge of information technology best practices, organization and operations
Ability to conduct research into infrastructure issues and products as required
Experience as a project manager
in government IT projects
