Position: Network Architect - Consultant

Start Date: 7/2/2018

Duration: 12+ Months

Location: Columbia, SC

Daily Duties / Responsibilities:


o Effectively interact and communicate with peer to Director-level IT professionals.

o Provide feedback to team regarding product issues, enhancements and new features.

o Must have initiative, drive and be a self-starter.

o Ability to ask pertinent questions of others.

o Proactively seek to identify, communicate and implement process related improvements.

o Effectively manage multiple tasks and activities concurrently and able to provide periodic status updates to key stakeholders.

o Collaborate extensively with peers and management to resolve client issues while actively contributing to a growing knowledge network that improves the effectiveness of our team and the information available to our clients.

o Prioritize numerous issues of varying severity, and effectively manage the resolution of all issues within accepted service levels.

o This includes ownership of the data entered into the Helpdesk system and appropriately updating both client and appropriate employees of status of all issues on a timely basis.

o Good customer skills, be attentive to detail, and responsive to customer tickets.


o Troubleshoot and recommend technical solutions for customer issues related to backup configuration and recovery.

o Develop workaround solutions as appropriate.

o Monitor and assess current backup systems and recommend hardware and software enhancements.

o Install, configure, test, monitor, and maintain backup system application and hardware,

o Perform equipment and software upgrades.

o Maintain familiarity with current computer and network products.

o Adhere to corporate information security guidelines and promote information security among coworkers.

o Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Skills (Rank In Order Of Importance):

o Knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, MLLP, NDMP, NTP.

o NetApp Hardware and Software Administration.

o Avamar / Veeam Software.

o EMC Storage.

o Experience in projects involving PCI/ NIST regulations, implementations and / or audits.

o Change Management.

o Disaster Recovery.

o Proficiency configuring and troubleshooting VMware.

o Organizational Skills.

o Verbal Communication Skills.

o Written Communication Skills.

Preferred Education/Certifications:

o Multiple Industry Certifications in field. MCP, MCSE, VMWare, Veeam.


o Organizational Skills Yes 7 Intermediate Currently Using 1 - 2 Years.

o Verbal Communication Skills Yes 8 Intermediate Currently Using 1 - 2 Years.

o Written Communication Skills Yes 9 Intermediate Currently Using 1 - 2 Years.

o Backup/recovery No 6 Advanced Currently Using 2 - 4 Years.

o System backup process for electronic images Yes 4 Advanced Currently Using 2 - 4 Years.

o EMC Storage Yes 2 Intermediate Currently Using 1 - 2 Years.

o Experience in projects involving PCI/NIST security implementations and/or audits. Yes 3 Intermediate Within 1 Year 1 - 2 Years.

o VMware vSphere Yes 5 Advanced Currently Using 1 - 2 Years.

o Knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTP, NTP, DNS, MLLP, NDM Yes 1 Intermediate Within 1 Year 1 - 2 Years.

Additional Skills:


o DISA STIG Hardening.

o Experience in projects involving Pub1075 regulations, implementations and / or audits.

o Veeam Backup Solutions.

o Hybrid Cloud Architecture.

o Hyper converged Infrastructure.

o Shell Scripting.
